This album finds Memphis Slim in the company of a couple of really bluesy saxophone players, bass, drums, and Matt Murphy on guitar circa Slim's in great voice, the band is on and tight, with all good material - including the classic "Four Walls" (aka "This is a Good Time to Write a Song").5/5(1).

I'll Just Keep on Singin' the Blues was recorded in in Chicago just before pianist Memphis Slim was to embark on a European tour and take up permanent residence there. Backed by members of his exciting '50s band the House Rockers (including Matt "Guitar" Murphy), it's a lost masterpiece.8/

All 12 tracks are Memphis Slim originals with Slim in fine voice and superb playing from guitarist Matt Murphy and the saxophonists. Despite the short playing time and apparently taken from a vinyl source, 'I'll Just Keep On Singin' The Blues' is one of Memphis Slim's best albums and deserves a place in any blues collection/5(5).
