   Dam Schafer (A.K.A. Danny Vapid) formed the Methadones in as a diversion from his full time bands, Screeching Weasel and the disttechrasenceidiccopirawilittti.coe of Dan's commitments to these bands (as well as his side project, the Mopes) the Methadones seemed to be forever on the back–burner of Rock and Roll after only a handful of shows and no real recordings to speak of.

   When I first saw the title of this Methadones album "21st Century Power Pop Riot", I made the sour face. I HATE the term pop. And even more so, I hated how in the early 's bands that were once "Pop-Punk" (before that became a dirty term)were now calling themselves "Power-Pop". As if to say they are more mature now, or some crap like that.

   One of those rare all-covers projects that actually works, the Methadones' 21st Century Power Pop Riot might well actually be the band's best album so far. That's no disrespect to leader Dan Schafer's earlier work, which has been uniformly fine pop-punk, but this set is the first album Schafer has been involved with since his glory days as Ben Weasel's right-hand man in Screeching Weasel 8/
